The Baylor Bears established control early and never relinquished it, securing a decisive 55-19 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The win improved Baylor’s record to 4-1, while Arizona State fell to 2-2 after the contest at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, AZ.
First Half: Early Lead and Steady Expansion
Arizona State struck first with a 46-yard field goal by Carson Smith, taking a 3-0 lead. However, Baylor responded immediately with a 63-yard run by Ryelan Morris to take the lead. DJ Lagway connected with Tony Livingston on a 3-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, giving the Bears a 14-3 advantage.
The second quarter saw Baylor extend their lead further. Lagway found Louis Brown IV for a 10-yard touchdown pass, pushing the score to 21-3 before halftime. Arizona State managed to put points on the board through a 30-yard touchdown pass from Cutter Boley to Omarion Miller and two field goals by Carson Smith (32 and 36 yards).
Rhett Armstrong added a 36-yard field goal for Baylor, making the score at the break 24-13.
Third Quarter: Lagway’s Precision
DJ Lagway took over in the third quarter, throwing two touchdown passes to Hawkins Polley (3 yards) and Jadon Porter (8 yards). These scores, combined with a 75-yard rushing touchdown by Caden Knighten, allowed Baylor to build an insurmountable lead. Carson Smith kicked another field goal for Arizona State, but the Sun Devils could not match the offensive firepower of the Bears.
