Tickets for Melissa's homecoming football game went on sale online at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, opening a week of events the district is inviting the whole community to join.

Homecoming Week runs Oct. 5-10, according to a Melissa ISD announcement posted Thursday. The centerpiece for families who are not headed to the game is the annual parade on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Parade and pep rally

Tailgating starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. on a route that loops around Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. The district expects more than 50 floats, followed by a community pep rally. People riding with a float may walk beside it and hand out candy or Cardinal spirit items. A route map is posted at melissaisd.org/homecoming.

The game

The Cardinals host the Frisco Centennial Titans at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. Fans are asked to wear red for a "Red Out."

Early pricing is $8 for adults and $4 for students through the online ticket site, melissaisd.org/tickets. The district says the price goes up to $10 at 3 p.m. on game day. For anyone who cannot make it, the game will stream at melissaisd.org/livestream.

At school during the week

Students across the district can take part in themed dress-up days starting Monday. Homecoming mums are allowed at school only on Cardinal Spirit Friday, Oct. 9, and must fit the district dress code, as must all dress-up day outfits.
