Three Melissa businesses are marking openings or new projects with public events over the next eight days, according to the Melissa Chamber of Commerce calendar. Each runs from 5 to 7 p.m., with the ribbon or shovel moment set for 5:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5: Aira Fitness
A gym at 1520 Scott St., Suite 100, is first up. The chamber lists the business as Aria Fitness; state construction records and the company's website spell it Aira Fitness. The website describes a 24/7 gym that also offers bootcamp classes and personal training, with treadmills, stair climbers, squat racks and free weights.
A project registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in April shows a 2,400-square-foot finish-out of the space, including a divider wall, a new bathroom, plumbing and lighting, with an estimated cost of $65,000. Chris Burns is listed as the owner on that filing and as the contact for the chamber event.
Wednesday, Oct. 7: Texas Sparks Construction
The chamber has a groundbreaking on its calendar for Texas Sparks Construction at 3304 McKinney St. The listing invites the public to "ground break" with the company but does not describe what will be built at the site.
Monday, Oct. 12: Comet Cleaners
The following Monday, the chamber plans a ribbon cutting to welcome Comet Cleaners to Melissa. The event listing does not give a Melissa street address for the dry cleaner.
All three events are listed as open to the public, and the chamber takes registrations through its online calendar.
