Changes to the contract for a central plant at the Collin County Adult Detention Facility's Phase 2 addition have reached $6.36 million, or 24.9% of the contract, according to a notice on the Commissioners Court agenda for Monday, Oct. 19.
The newest change, No. 11 with contractor Sedalco Inc., actually trims the bill. It combines three pending changes:
- $89,070.45 for added piping and a storage tank the architect required.
- A $124,341.65 credit for an Oncor energy efficiency rebate the contractor requested.
- $24,678.43 for renting a temporary chiller the county required.
Together they reduce the contract by $10,592.77 and add no days to the schedule, leaving the total at $31,840,049.03. The memo, from the county's construction projects office, lists the plant as the CCM Central Modular Plant, or CUP, and says the money comes from the county's American Rescue Plan Act federal funds account.
Medical examiner and garage project
A second notice covers The Christman Company's contract for the county's healthcare, medical examiner and parking garage buildings. Change order No. 34 adds $32,473 for four items:
- $22,055 to close a gap between a slab and the curtainwall at the healthcare building, required by the architect.
- $1,000 to adjust exit lighting at the parking garage, a change the City of McKinney required.
- $3,196 to adjust a ceiling at a shell entrance in the healthcare building.
- $6,222 for a variable frequency drive on a garage exhaust fan, which the county requested.
That brings change orders on the project to $3,453,375.66, or 5.59% of the contract, and the contract total to $65,269,115. The memo lists the funding source as interest earned on the county's American Rescue Plan Act money.
