Avelo Airlines said Thursday it will add two more Florida cities to its schedule at McKinney National Airport, bringing the number of nonstop destinations it plans from the Collin County airport to 11.

Service to Sarasota/Bradenton begins Wednesday, Dec. 16, with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. West Palm Beach follows on Thursday, Dec. 17, on Thursdays and Sundays. The airline's release identifies the Palm Beach County airport by its new name, President Donald J. Trump International Airport, and the code DJT.

Avelo is also adding Wednesday and Saturday flights to Las Vegas for the holiday travel season. Combined with the Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday flights it had already announced, that makes six a week.

The full McKinney schedule

The airline's first flights out of the airport, known by the code DTX, are set for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. That opening lineup is Las Vegas plus four Florida airports: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. Denver, Atlanta, New Orleans and Nashville are scheduled to start in mid-December, the same month as the two new routes.

"North Texas continues to show up for Avelo," CEO Andrew Levy said in the announcement, calling Collin County "one of the fastest-growing areas in America."

Fares and fine print

Introductory fares begin at $69 each way, per flight segment, with taxes and fees included. According to the release's terms, that price applies to travel to or from McKinney between Jan. 7 and Jan. 31, 2027, must be bought by Oct. 22, and covers limited seats and days.

Avelo charges $25 per traveler for bookings or changes made by phone through its customer center, and bags and seat assignments can cost extra.

Base and jobs

Avelo plans to open a crew and aircraft base at the airport on Nov. 11, with three Boeing 737s stationed there. The airline expects the base to bring about 150 jobs, from pilots and flight attendants to aircraft mechanics and airport workers.
